Thirty Day Song Challenge: Day 11

Day 11: A Song From Your Favorite Band

Okay, you guys, I can narrow this down pretty quickly to two favorite bands. Muse and Our Lady Peace. I love them both pretty equally. I've seen them both live and they both kicked ass, too. We saw OLP at a really small venue and they were only a couple of arms lengths away. I have to admit that I was exactly sure who they were at first. It was my husband who wanted to see them perform. My first impression was that the lead singer was high as a kite. He probably was, too, but after a few songs he was able to hold his head upright and his mouth no longer hung open while he sported a blank and far away look in his eyes. Seriously, I thought it was going to suck at first but he did a complete 180 and then rocked my face off! And now I love him forever.

We saw Muse about a year ago. Atlanta was the first stop on their very small American tour. Dan and I left Haeden alone overnight for the first time to see these guys. We walked to the arena from our hotel since we figured parking would be a nightmare. It turned out to be further than we expected. I, like a dumbass, wore heels. You know, cause I was finally out on the town and I wanted to look good! Well, heels and walking don't go well together. Mama's tootsies were not happy!

When I finally limped to my seat and got to see these guys in action, I was floored. They're musical ability is just plain amazing and they had a fantastic light show and stage set up, too. Normally I don't really care about those things but it was pretty damn entertaining.

Although I don't want to choose between the two, the first song that popped into my head when I read the challenge today was Our Lady Peace's "Somewhere Out There". It's good you guys, really good.

Thirty Day Song Challenge: Day 10

Day 10: A Song That You Makes You Fall Asleep

Well, this is a toughie. Music doesn’t put me to sleep. In fact, it’s just the opposite. If there is music playing, no matter how softly, it keeps me awake. I have a hard time ignoring it and part of my brain is always concentrating on the melody or lyrics. I can’t help it. I also have a hard time working when I have music on at work because, again, I’m usually concentrating on the song or dancing in my seat. But, then again, I always have a hard time working…
Since I have to choose something though, I’ll go with Coldplay’s “Parachutes”. It’s slow, melodic and totally dreamy. Normal people would fall asleep to it, I’m sure.

Thirty Day Song Challenge: Day 9

Day 9: A Song You Often Hear on the Radio

I usually listen to the radio for about 5-10 minutes each day before I get irritated and go back to whatever CD happens to be in the player already. And do you know why I get so irritated? Well, besides the fact that  three non-country/oldies* stations we have play next to nothing but crap, they actually only play like 10 or so of  those crappy songs on a continuous loop. And I don’t know if that is normal or not, but it sure as hell is obnoxious. One person can only handle so much Ke$ha in their lives, you know?
I know that the Hubs would want me to pick "Far Behind" by Candlebox. He’s always grumbling about how he hears that song now more than he did when the band was actually popular. But since I usually listen to a different station when I’m alone in the car I’m going to go with (gawd awful) Ke$ha and her song “We R Who We R”. Even the spelling of her name/ the song title is stupid. I am seriously dumbfounded by her popularity and I would be afraid to ever see her live. Her songs are so ridiculously auto-tuned that I can’t imagine what she would sound like without it!

Of course, I don't want to see/hear her either way. Blech.

Thirty Day Song Challenge: Day 8

Day 8: A Song You Know All The Words To

Oh, crap. As soon as you ask me to tell you all of the words to a song I completely forget them. This is why I don't really sing in the shower. Or, if I do, I end up singing the same two lines over and over or just making something up. I don't know why this happens considering the number of songs I have listened to on repeat over the years.

So, because of this, I am tempted to pick something like "This Is The Song That Doesn't End" or "Row Row Row Your Boat". I even thought of a ridiculous Christmas carol or two, but even then, I only know the first verse! Actually, one of the things I often sing to Haeden is Silent Night (just like my Mom sang to me!), but I only know part of the second verse so I would have to hum other half. That is kind of sad, right?! Oooh, but I did learn all of  "Hush Little Baby". Are you impressed?

Okay, so if I am seriously going to pick a song here, I'll go ahead and go with Amy Winehouse's "Rehab". Yeah, I know she totally went off the deep end after releasing this album, but I'm still hoping for a comeback because I love it in it's entirety!
